Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute and Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation earn international recognition for cardiovascular research excellence

MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 20, 2025)—Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation have been named among the 2025 Scientific Excellence Top 10 (SET-10) by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF). This prestigious honor recognizes health care institutions driving the most impactful interventional cardiovascular research presented at CRF’s annual scientific symposium, TCT 2025 (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics).

Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute and Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) received the following distinctions: 

  • Eighth globally for interventional cardiovascular research. 
  • Fifth in the United States for cardiovascular research. 
  • Third worldwide for coronary research.
  • Third globally for late-breaking clinical research which acknowledges high-impact late-breaking clinical trials and science presentations. 

This distinction places Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute and Abbott Northwestern Hospital among leading medical institutions shaping the future of cardiovascular care through groundbreaking research and innovation. MHIF is the independent research organization that partners with Allina Health physicians to lead this research which has global impact on cardiovascular care for patients.

A total of 1,800 abstracts were submitted for presentation at TCT 2025. Each submission underwent rigorous evaluation by expert reviewers. Rankings were determined using a weighted formula that considered both the quality (average scores) and quantity of accepted submissions, ensuring recognition reflects the most impactful and scientifically robust research presented at the meeting.
