Notice of privacy incident from Allina Health

MINNEAPOLIS (May 6, 2024) — This notice is regarding a privacy incident that included personal information of some patients. Allina Health recently became aware that a former employee impermissibly accessed the patient health records of 715 patients while employed by Allina Health. This individual has not worked for Allina Health since 2022. The impacted patients are being notified via letter.  

Allina Health does not permit any employee to access health information without an appropriate business reason. 

The information may have included:   

  • Demographic information
  • Photo ID
  • Insurance information
  • Limited clinical information
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security Number 

This information DID NOT include

  • Credit card information  

Allina Health is committed to patient privacy and understands that these types of events can cause concern. We are deeply sorry for any concern or inconvenience that this incident causes. As a precaution, Allina Health is offering two years of identity and credit monitoring at no cost to the patient.  In addition to sending letters to those impacted, Allina Health has notified the US Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights of this incident, as required by regulations.
