New Ulm Medical Center Optical Shop to close June 28

The facility will continue to offer a full range of ophthalmology services

NEW ULM, Minn. (June 10, 2024) — Allina Health New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) has made the difficult decision to close its retail Optical Shop due to ongoing staffing challenges. The closure goes into effect on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 12 p.m. Patients who need to access their medical records to order and purchase eyeglasses and contacts outside of this facility, can access their medical records by logging into their online Allina Health account or calling the Health Information Management department at 612-262-2300.

“Even though we’re closing our retail Optical Shop, we’ll continue to offer full ophthalmology services, including eye exams and eye procedures with Dr. Natalia Kramarevsky at New Ulm Medical Center,” said Katie Slette, director of Regional Clinic Operations. “The good news is there are trusted retail optical businesses in New Ulm where consumers can shop for eyeglasses and contacts after we close.”

As part of the closing, the Optical Shop is holding a 50% off sale on all frames and accessory items now through June 28. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. No appointments are necessary; walk-ins are welcome.
