Allina Health’s Center for Mental Health and Addiction provides seamlessly connected mental health addiction care

New center on Mercy Hospital – Unity Campus will increase services for community.

MINNEAPOLIS (June 27, 2024) — Allina Health invited community partners and donors to a ribbon-cutting event that celebrates the Center for Mental Health and Addiction on the Mercy Hospital – Unity Campus in Fridley.

The 3-story Center is more than 46,000 square feet of space dedicated to providing mental health and addiction services to children, teens, adults and seniors in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It is connected to the Mercy Hospital – Unity Campus skywalk for access ease for those receiving inpatient care.

“This new Center shows Allina Health’s commitment to ensuring we have the clinical capabilities to meet the diverse health care needs of the communities we serve – from our hospital-based mental health and addiction services to our partial hospitalization and day treatment programs,” said Joe Clubb, vice president, Allina Health Mental Health and Addiction. “Not only does this center address mental health and addiction needs but it also recognizes social determinants of health that may impact a person’s ability to receive care. We are grateful to our community partners for their collaboration in providing these resources at the Center.”

Anoka County Services connects people with social services and county-assistance programs. Canvas Health Services provides intake and triage to assist community members in accessing appropriate services. Southern Anoka Community Assistance Food Shelf provides non-perishable food items for clients and patients on the hospital campus. Minnesota Recovery Connection (MRC) Services offers peer support for those navigating recovery from substance use.

Nature is a common theme throughout the Center since it is known to have positive mental health impacts. There is artwork that features flowers and a multi-story picture of a waterfall that greets people as they enter the building. Vegetable gardens on campus will also be tended to by patients and staff.

A special thank you to the many donors who have generously supported this project, including lead donors The Lynne and Andrew Redleaf Foundation. “Jared’s Garden” is dedicated to their late son in recognition of his mental health care journey.
