Allina Health hospitals ranked among highest in state according to U.S. News & World Report

Abbott Northwestern, Mercy and United hospitals rank among top five in Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS (July 16, 2024) — Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern, Mercy and United hospitals are ranked first, third (tie) and third (tie), respectively, in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area in the U.S. News & World Report 2024-25 Best Hospitals rankings released today. 

Abbott Northwestern Hospital is ranked first in the Twin Cities and second in the state for the twelfth consecutive year. Mercy and United hospitals tied for fifth in the state of Minnesota.

In addition to its Twin Cities and state rankings, Abbott Northwestern Hospital received a national ranking of 47th in rehabilitation. It was “high performing” in the following specialty areas and common procedures and conditions: cardiology, heart & vascular surgery; geriatrics; neurology & neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology & lung surgery; abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; aortic valve surgery; back surgery (spinal fusion); COPD; colon cancer surgery; heart attack; heart bypass surgery; heart failure; hip replacement; kidney failure; knee replacement; leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma; lung cancer surgery; pneumonia; prostate cancer surgery and stroke. 

Mercy Hospital received high performing grades in the following areas: pulmonology & lung surgery; COPD; colon cancer surgery; heart attack; heart failure; hip replacement; knee replacement; leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma; lung cancer surgery; pneumonia and stroke. 

United Hospital received high-performing grades in the following areas: COPD; colon cancer surgery; diabetes; heart attack; heart failure; hip replacement; knee replacement; lung cancer surgery; pneumonia; prostate cancer surgery and stroke.
