Allina Health earns top scores for disability inclusion for third year in a row

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (July 17, 2024) — Allina Health is pleased to be recognized by the Disability Equality Index (DEI) as one of the best places to work for people with disabilities. This is the third consecutive year Allina Health has received this recognition.

“Our mission is to provide expert care to the communities we serve. To do that, we must make sure our employees feel safe, appreciated and experience a sense of belonging,” said Christine Moore, Allina Health’s Chief Administrative Officer and an executive sponsor of our Ability Employee Resource Group (ERG). “Our Ability Employee Resource Group is among six ERGs offered at Allina Health. This group diligently works to ensure we continuously create an inclusive and accessible workplace for employees with disabilities.”

Now in its tenth year, (DEI) provides companies with the resources needed to measure their disability inclusion policies and programs. 542 companies took part in the DEI report this year, and they each received a score ranging from zero (0) to one hundred (100).

Allina Health is proud to once again receive a top score of 100, which was based on five key areas:

  • encouraging employee self-identification.
  • leveraging disability-focused employee resource groups.
  • conducting accessibility audits.
  • modernizing corporate governance.
  • Accelerating spending with disability-owned business enterprises.

"On the 10th anniversary of the Disability Equality Index, we’re extremely proud of the 542 national and international companies that are taking a proactive role in leading progress towards disability inclusion, setting a benchmark for others to follow. Their dedication to fostering inclusive workplaces not only attracts top talent but also drives innovation and creates sustainable performance in today's global market. Together, we are creating a future where everyone can contribute and thrive,” said Jill Houghton, President and CEO of Disability:IN.

The DEI was developed by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates. The index is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, the global business disability inclusion network, to collectively advance the inclusion of people with disabilities.
