Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital named to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2023

MINNEAPOLIS (March 16, 2023) — Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital has been named to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2023, awarded by Newsweek and Statista Inc. It is the fourth year in a row that Abbott Northwestern Hospital has been named to the list. Abbott Northwestern Hospital is also ranked in Newsweek’s World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2023 in all 11 rated specialties.

Four data sources were used for the evaluation:

  • Hospital recommendations from Medical Experts: an international online survey sent to more than 80,000 healthcare professionals;
  • Patient Experience: survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization;
  • Patient Reported Outcome Measures: surveys measuring patient satisfaction with hospitals; and
  • Hospital Quality Metrics: patient safety, hygiene measures, wait times and quality of treatment.

Abbott Northwestern Hospital has been ranked in all 11 of the medical specialties in Newsweek’s World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2023 including being rated 22nd overall worldwide in Cardiology. In addition to the Cardiology ranking, Abbott Northwestern was also ranked:

In the Newsweek World's Best Smart Hospitals 2023 rankings, Abbott Northwestern Hospital ranked 15th out of 300 hospitals worldwide that lead in their use of AI, digital imaging, telemedicine, robotics and electronic functionalities.
