Allina Health appoints Dominica Tallarico, B.S., M.S., FACHE, new Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer

MINNEAPOLIS (April 25, 2023) — Allina Health is pleased to welcome Dominica Tallarico, B.S., M.S., FACHE as the health system’s new Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. In her role, Tallarico will serve as the senior executive responsible for implementing Allina Health’s strategic plans into daily operations to meet the organization’s objectives. Tallarico’s leadership will build upon Allina Health’s strong operations foundation aimed at accelerating the integration of innovative care models.

Tallarico spent her summers growing up on Pelican Lake in central Minnesota. “I am excited for this homecoming and the great memories I have of my childhood summers in Minnesota,” Tallarico said. Tallarico and her husband, David Spiega, have two daughters. 

Tallarico has served Advocate Health for the past 18 years, serving most recently as the executive vice president of the Illinois Market for the newly formed Advocate Health (previously Advocate Aurora Health). Tallarico was the executive leader responsible for acute and ambulatory strategy and operations in Illinois representing nine hospitals, a children’s hospital, 400 ambulatory sites of care and medical group clinics, 6300 physicians of which nearly 1800 are employed, and $7B in revenues.

During her tenure, Tallarico helped to strategically grow the organization’s acute and ambulatory network and sites of care, including population health capabilities and clinical service lines, serving 2 million people in Illinois. She is a strategic thought leader, cultivating innovation as evidenced through establishing innovative care models and partnerships including One Medical, Surgical Care Affiliates, MD Anderson affiliation, and digital consumer-facing products. 

Tallarico holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago and a master’s degree in health administration from Rush University. She is a founding partner of a new 501c3 organization, South Side Health Transformation Healthy Community Organization, receiving $150M in Illinois State transformation dollars. The organization was founded to disrupt the 29-year life expectancy gap on the southside of Chicago and is a partnership with FQHCs, safety net hospitals, and an academic health system.

Tallarico will begin her new role at Allina Health on May 1, 2023 and will report directly to Lisa Shannon, Allina Health’s president and CEO.
