MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Oct. 17, 2023) — Allina Health Cancer Institute (AHCI) - Piper Breast Center – Minneapolis earned a prestigious accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers of the American College of Surgeons (NAPBC).

Our patients are getting the highest level of quality care,” said Ellie Johnson, Safety & Quality Manager at Allina Health. “Every member of the care team - the physician, therapist, nurse, radiologist, genetic counselor and more – are specifically trained in breast care.”

Accreditation by the NAPBC is granted only to those programs committed to providing the best possible care to patients with breast cancer. To achieve the accreditation, AHCI – Piper Breast Center – Minneapolis undergoes a site visit every three years to show compliance with the NAPBC standards for leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement for patients.

“Allina Health Cancer Institute is dedicated to providing cancer care that is connected, compassionate and convenient,” said Amy Krie, MD, an oncologist at Allina Health Cancer Institute. “As providers, we work closely with patients to personalize care and treatment plans to meet their needs, including nutritional guidance, physical therapy, mental health counseling, financial navigation and family support groups.”

Patients receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center also have access to information on clinical trials and new treatment options, genetic counseling, and patient-centered services including psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and survivorship care.
