ST. PAUL, Minn. (February 3, 2022) — Allina Health’s United Family Physicians Clinic is celebrating one year since the community-based, primary care clinic began welcoming patients in St. Paul’s West Seventh neighborhood.
“The opening of our new United Family Physicians’ clinic in the heart of the West Seventh neighborhood allowed our team to continue their commitment to care for the community we are so privileged to serve,” said Gerald Montie, MD. “We are grateful for our patients who have been with us on this journey to provide accessible, equitable care.”
The United Family Physicians clinic at 233 Grand Avenue, near United Hospital, provides holistic primary care for all ages, as well as mental health and addiction services and obstetrics. The clinic is also serves as an education and training site for Allina Health’s well respected family medicine residency program, which trains 21 family medicine residents a year with many graduates going on to serve in urban and rural settings throughout Minnesota.
The United Family Physician clinic’s physicians are residents are committed to creating access to quality health care for low income and medically underserved resident, while welcoming all who seek care under the clinic’s dual mission “to teach and to serve.”
United Family Physicians is proud to serve community members from people from many backgrounds including local families, many people of color, non-English speaking immigrants, pregnant woman and children, the elderly needing home visits, nursing home residents in the area, those with chemical dependency or mental health struggles needing medication and counseling, homeless individuals and those needing hospital care.
“Our physicians and residents are deeply connected to the West Seventh neighborhood,” said Dr. Stephanie Rosener, director of Allina Health’s United Family Medicine Residency Program. “Many of our physicians have served this community for decades and in many cases generations within the same family. We are grateful for the continued support of the community as we continue providing our resident physicians high-quality healthcare experiences that are anchored in the community and built on a foundation of community engagement.”
The United Family Medicine Residency Program residents and physicians are involved in community health efforts collaboratively with community members, such as mentorship programs for local youth interested in careers in healthcare, community gardens, programs for the homeless, mentorship programs for young girls of color, homeless individuals outreach, and community meetings to engage local leaders on the on-going healthcare needs in our community.
