Abbott powder baby formula recall: Information for caregivers

MINNEAPOLIS (Feb. 21, 2022) – Baby formula manufacturer, Abbott, issued a voluntary recall on Feb. 17, 2022 for three brands of powder nutrition formulas manufactured at the company’s plant in Sturgis, Michigan. 

This recall includes the following powder nutrition formulas:
• Similac®
• Alimentum ®
• EleCare®

This voluntary recall is isolated to the above brands of powder nutrition formula and does not include liquid formulas, metabolic deficiency nutrition formulas or any other of the company’s nutrition powders or brands.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) also has information regarding this recall.

This recall may cause concerns for our patients, families and our staff. Your health and safety is Allina Health’s top priority. We want to ensure caregivers are aware of this recall and have the necessary resources to address any concerns.

The powder formula under this recall has the following numbers and letter combinations:
• Start with the first two digits 22 through 37.
• Contains K8, SH, or Z2.
• Containers have an expiration date of April 1, 2022, or later.
