Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital Director of Operations, Candice Washington named to 2021 Women in Business list

MINNEAPOLIS (August 11, 2021) — Allina Health is proud to celebrate Candice Washington, Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital Director of Operations, who has been recognized as a 2021 Women in Business by the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal. The award honors 51 women, plus one Career Achievement honoree for their professional achievements and contributions to the Twin Cities community.

Washington joined Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital in 2010 and has worked each day to make health care more accessible and equitable to all those who entrust us with their care. Washington has also led the BIPOC Employee Resource Group at Allina Health since its conception in 2019. In this role, she creates a space for employees to share their experiences, the lessons they have learned, and discuss ways our employees can help Allina Health continue its mission towards a more equitable future in its role as care provider, employer, purchaser and community partner.

Washington is a member of the Healthy Lake Street Fund Oversight Committee, initially started by the Lake Street Council to support the reopening, relocation, improvement, and expansion for small businesses on Lake Street that support the community’s health and well-being. Her leadership and work on the Oversight Committee supports entrepreneurs, small businesses and the Phillip’s community as a whole.

“Candice is an accomplished healthcare executive that everyone here is proud to call ‘colleague’. She is well known for her long-term commitment to community wellness and inclusiveness, as well as her capacity to see the big picture while being an expert on the details that matter,” said Ann Madden Rice, president of Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital. “Candice’s unique perspective, unwavering commitment to a brighter future for all, and her compassionate understanding of community needs is something we have all benefited from.”
