Allina Health welcomes Hsieng Su, MD, as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Executive

Minneapolis (July 27, 2021) — Allina Health is pleased to welcome Hsieng Su, MD, as the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Executive. In this role, Dr. Su will serve as the senior executive responsible for clinical performance and advancing the system’s safety, quality and population health journey.  Dr. Su’s leadership will build upon a strong physician and provider culture, and develop clinical leaders to further Allina Health’s tradition of clinical excellence and innovation to accelerate transformation to value-based care models.

Hsieng Su’s, MD, most recent role was at SSM Health-St. Louis as the Regional Chief Medical Officer where she was an integral part of improving patient care by leading clinical teams across five specialty areas, creating a physician leadership development program, providing leadership to the SSM Health-St. Louis Institutional Review Board and research contracts with the affiliated academic university, and as a board member of the Accountable Care Organization for the region. Prior to SSM Health – St. Louis, Dr. Su spent 6 years at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as the Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Su will be returning to Minnesota after training and working here earlier in her career.

Dr. Su holds an undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Washington, Seattle, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine, and a Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.; completed a Master in Public Health from John Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore, Md.; finished a Preventative Medicine Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.; earned a Master of Health Care Management from Harvard School of Public Health, Cambridge, Mass.; and completed The Academy, GE Chief Medical Officer Fellowship, Arlington, Va.

Hsieng Su, MD, will begin her new role at Allina Health on August 23rd and will report directly to Lisa Shannon, Allina Health’s president and chief operating officer. Reporting to Dr. Su will be the Vice President of Quality and Safety, as well as System Clinical Officers.
