Allina Health joins national CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion

Minneapolis, Minn. (March 23, 2021) — Allina Health has signed a commitment to join more than 1,600 organizations, across 85 industries, to advance diversity, equity and inclusion within the workplace. In our role as a care provider, employer, purchaser, and community partner, this commitment to addressing disparities and inequalities supports our collective mission to provide safe care for all.

“We’re proud to join others across the country in a pledge to advance DE&I efforts by creating a trusting work environment where all ideas are welcomed and employees feel comfortable and empowered to have important discussions about diversity and inclusion,” said Penny Wheeler, MD and CEO of Allina Health. “At Allina Health we know that cultivating a “speak up” culture can elevate our work to actively address a public health emergency that impacts the very foundation of our work. Taking this pledge will help us build more equitable systems.”

This nationwide pledge comes after months of critical conversations about diversity, education about historic wrongdoings, and assessing the health care industry’s shortfalls. Allina Health remains committed to improvement through constant self-examination and evaluation, education, and advocacy.
