Do you or your loved one need care right now? Not sure if you should head to the emergency room or urgent care clinic? Abbott Northwestern – WestHealth offers emergency and urgent care in one convenient Plymouth location, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We’re here for your child, too. Experts from Children’s Minnesota are onsite every evening.

What it is

Urgent care treats you and your loved one – baby, child or adult – for most of the same non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries you would see your primary care provider for, on a walk-in basis.

Emergency care treats you and your loved one for severe health problems and in life-threatening situations.

What to expect

When you arrive at WestHealth, you will be evaluated to determine the right level of care.

You do not need to be an Allina Health patient to be seen by our urgent care or emergency providers. All major health plans are accepted. Your insurance provider will be able to tell you your copayment, what is and isn’t covered under your plan, and how much you will be responsible for paying out-of-pocket.

Good to know

You may find yourself in situations where you are unsure where to go for health care. Here is a basic rule of thumb to help you decide the right place to get care. Go to:

  • The combined emergency department and urgent care at WestHealth if you have signs or symptoms of a life-threatening condition or a non-life-threatening illness, infection or injury
  • Primary care clinic for scheduled appointments including physicals (annual, sports and return to work), preventive care, ongoing care and treatment for chronic conditions
  • Allina Health Virtual Care for treatment of a variety of common everyday conditions virtually, when your clinic is closed, you can’t get a convenient appointment or don’t want to travel to a health care setting

If you are already an Allina Health patient, our urgent care providers will be able to access your health record. Your Allina Health primary care provider will be kept up-to-date on the urgent care received via your electronic health record.
