Annie Chen, PharmD 
PGY1 pharmacy practice resident

Annie Chen grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she earned her bachelor of science in chemistry. She continued on at the University of Minnesota to earn her doctor of pharmacy degree. Her professional interests include cardiology, transplant, and specialty pharmacy. Following the completion of her PGY1 residency, Annie is considering a PGY2 in cardiology or obtaining a position as a clinical pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys modern calligraphy, playing board games, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.

Brandon Gagnon, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Brandon Gagnon grew up in Price, Utah and attended Southern Utah University where he earned his bachelor of science in human nutrition. He went on to earn his doctor of pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. His professional interests include emergency medicine, infectious diseases, cardiology, and critical care. Following his PGY1 residency, Brandon is considering a PGY2 in infectious diseases, cardiology, or critical care. He is a current member of MSHP, MPhA, and ASHP. Outside of pharmacy he enjoys playing basketball, cooking and trying new foods, playing board games and spending time with family and friends.

Kayla Kermode, PharmD

Kayla Kermode grew up in Maple Grove, Minn., and attended Minnesota State University – Mankato, where she obtained her bachelor of science in biomedical sciences. She went on to earn her doctor of pharmacy at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.  Her professional interests include cardiology, emergency medicine, infectious disease, and intensive care. She is a current member of AHSP and MSHP. Following her PGY1 residency, Kayla is considering further training through a PGY2 specialty residency or obtaining a position as a clinical pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys trying new food, soccer, golfing, boating and spending time with friends and family.

PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Practice Resident 

Annie Nguyen grew up in Vancouver, Wash., and attended the Washington State University where she obtained her bachelor of science in biology. She went on to earn her doctor of pharmacy degree at Pacific University School of Pharmacy in Hillsboro, Oregon, then completed her PGY1 residency at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Her professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, and infections in the immunocompromised. She is a member of SIDP, IDSA, ACCP, OSHP, and MSHP. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants and cafes, watching out for the latest Costco deals and spending time with friends and family.

Danny Nguyen, PharmD

Danny Nguyen grew up in Vietnam and immigrated to Minnesota during his high school years. He earned his bachelor of science in chemistry and moved to Massachusetts for pharmacy school. He worked as a pharmacist at a critical care access hospital in Wisconsin for two years prior to starting residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. His professional interests are in internal medicine, critical care, infectious disease, and cardiology. Following the completion of his PGY1 residency, he would like to obtain a clinical position. Outside of pharmacy, he loves road cycling and trying new coffee shops with his wife.

Nick Senne grew up in Mankato, Minn., and attended the University of Minnesota – Duluth, where he earned his bachelor of science in biology. He went on to earn his doctor of pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. His professional interests include oncology and pharmacy administration. Following the completion of his PGY1 residency, Nick is considering a PGY2 in pharmacy administration and leadership. Outside of pharmacy he enjoys spending time with family and friends, skiing, golfing and going to Vikings football games.

PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Practice Resident

Lexi Thumann grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa where she obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy, then completed her PGY1 residency at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, and leadership. After finishing her PGY2, Lexi hopes to obtain a position as a stewardship pharmacist with the future possibility of transitioning into a leadership role. Outside of pharmacy, Lexi enjoys hiking, trying new foods, drinking coffee, and spending time with friends, family and her kitty.

Tyler Tschumperlin, PharmD
PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Practice Resident

Tyler Tschumperlin grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where he earned his bachelor of science in neuroscience. Tyler spent the year after graduation continuing research on spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 before going on to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. His professional interests include cardiology, critical care, neuroscience and technology. Following completion of his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Abbott Northwestern, Tyler is excited to stay at Abbott Northwestern to complete a PGY2 residency in cardiology. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys running, playing board games and spending time with friends and family.
