    Assessment and referral: Questions and answer

    Assessment and referral is a hospital-based service that responds to mental health or substance abuse crisis. Services are provided in the hospital emergency department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Full hospitalization

    A team of mental health professionals stabilizes, assesses and works with each patient. The patient stays in the hospital 24 hours a day. The average length of stay is five to six days.

    Patients receive around-the-clock care in a hospital while learning how to manage their illness.

    One's personalized program may include:

    • individual and group psychotherapy (talking through problems)
    • family involvement
    • educational programming
    • treatment and crisis planning
    • medication management

    Our inpatient mental health unit features:

    • 10 beds
    • patient day room with television, full kitchen, comfortable chairs and sofas
    • group therapy room
    • secure outdoor patio
