Faribault Medical Center begins construction on expanded cancer clinic

FARIBAULT, Minn. (January 26, 2023) The Allina Health Faribault Medical Center will mark the start of construction of its new Allina Health Cancer Institute – Faribault Clinic with a “Break the Wall” ceremony on Thursday, January 26. Allina Health is excited to continue our expansion of the Allina Health Cancer Institute location in Faribault. By increasing access to cancer care beyond the Twin Cities metro area, Allina Health is honoring its commitment to provide fully integrated cancer treatment and Whole Person Care for all.

Allina Health leaders including Sarah Criger, Senior Vice President of Operations and Acute Care and Dr. Badri Konety, President Allina Health Cancer Institute will join Faribault Medical Center leaders Michael Johnston, President Allina Health Faribault Medical Center and Dr. Shefali Shah, Oncologist Allina Health Cancer Institute – Faribault to symbolically break the wall to start the construction project.

The start of construction marks the completion of a collaborative design process using the 3P process to deliver on our promise to provide a space for high-quality patient-centered cancer care. 3P is a prototyping and simulation process used to move projects forward quickly and efficiently by including a variety of customers (patients, community members, staff, providers, support staff, leadership, etc.) in creating the design and flow of new medical facilities that meets the unique needs of patients.

The new clinic is expected to be completed and able to start seeing patients in mid-spring.
