Allina Health announces new Diaper Bank in partnership with the Community Action Center

FARIBAULT, Minn. (July 11, 2022) —Allina Health’s Faribault Medical Center is partnering with the Community Action Center (CAC) of Faribault and Growing Up Healthy (supported by Healthy Community Initiative) to create a new Diaper Bank, aimed at providing a valuable resource for countless families in the Faribault community.

Allina Health’s Faribault Medical Center generously donated 70 cases of every diaper size ranging from zero to six to the CAC to kickstart the Diaper Bank, which is now ready to provide families with this necessity. The greater community will be invited to play a role in this dynamic effort by donating diapers or funds to help support the new Diaper Bank.

“Allina Health’s whole-person care model highlights the importance of identifying the needs of our local community. The Diaper Bank gives Allina Health the opportunity to better serve and meet the needs of our Faribault residents while allowing us to deepen our relationships with our community partners and the people we care for,” said Natalie Ginter, Manager of Community Engagement at Allina Health. “Looking to the future of the Diaper Bank, we hope to see the Faribault community uplift this cause that is centered on serving families in need."

Acting as an emergency diaper bank, families will be able to receive a supply of diapers up to four times a year per child. The Diaper Bank hopes to serve as many families in need as possible and offers a wide selection of diaper sizes. To expand its impact, the Diaper Bank is accepting donations from the greater community. If community members are interested in supporting the new Diaper Bank, they can call the CAC of Faribault (507.384.3661) to find out what sizes of diapers are needed or make a donation through the CAC website. Currently, diaper sizes five and six are in high demand and most commonly get used up first.

Allina Health’s Faribault Medical Center, CAC and Growing Up Healthy’s hope is that women and families referred to the Diaper Bank, can also be introduced to other resources through the CAC, such as the new food shelf. Oftentimes, families in tight financial situations find themselves needing to extend the life of a diaper, which can lead to skin rashes and other health issues including added stress on the caregivers. The Diaper Bank aims to help families connect with needed resources and to promote good health for all in the Faribault community.
