Allina Health partners with the WGH Group, Rice County Public Health, and HealthFinders to create Paving the Way

MINNEAPOLIS (June 8, 2021) —Allina Health is proud to partner with the WGH Group, Rice County Public Health and HealthFinders to ensure women and their families have easy access to prenatal and postpartum resources and services.

Paving the Way offers enrollees access to a small team made up of a community paramedic, public health nurse and a Spanish or Somali bilingual community health worker who support enrollees throughout their time in the program. Women who enroll in the program receive assistance in connecting to local community services, home and virtual visits, and breastfeeding and lactation support, all while receiving education on pregnancy, mental health, self-care and more. Paving the Way offers women and families opportunities to start life with a full range of support and access to education and resources to ensure health and wellness.

“COVID-19 has highlighted the inequities in prenatal and postpartum care across our state,” said Natalie Ginter, Manager of Community Engagement at Allina Health. “To ensure these barriers to health care and education are eliminated, Allina Health is partnering with the Paving the Way team to help provide women access to health and wellness resources, support systems, and our local community services.”

Women in Rice County, Minnesota can enroll in Paving the Way by going to https://pavingthewaymodel.com/contact/ and can explore resources ranging from activities and classes for families, education on reproductive health, childbirth and breastfeeding online.
