Support for new mothers

Beyond the pleasant setting and the one-room approach, the Birth Center is staffed with experienced obstetrical nurses who believe in teaching new families one-on-one about post-partum and infant care.

Specially trained staff provide lactation services along with education, support and assistance to nursing mothers. Doulas (volunteer labor coaches) are available to assist those in labor if requested.

Beyond your hospital stay

Once the new family goes home, follow up support is available from obstetrical nurses who are just a phone call away to answer questions during the first few days after discharge from the hospital.

New mothers are invited and encouraged to return to the Birth Center for baby weight checks two days after discharge. At this time babies are checked for jaundice. We also continue breastfeeding education, encourage feeding support, and perform an assessment on the baby. This information is given to your physician.

Additional services

In addition to childbirth, the Birth Center provides accommodations for ante-partum testing, gynecological-related procedures, post-operative care for surgeries and care for pregnancy related complications.
