Kirby Puckett Eye Mobile

The Kirby Puckett Eye Mobile is the first and only mobile eye clinic in the region. With two fully-equipped exam rooms on board, it's like an eye doctor's office on wheels. It is owned, operated and staffed by Phillips Eye Institute - a campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health.

Eye care improves lives

Poor vision affects quality of life for people of all ages. Cost, lack of transportation or other challenges may limit access to vision care for some. By providing free vision screenings and comprehensive eye exams to those in need, the Kirby Puckett Eye Mobile can help improve the lives of many.

Named after Kirby Puckett

Kirby Puckett played center field for the Minnesota Twins for 12 years before his career was cut short by glaucoma. Before his death in 2006, Puckett was an advocate for preventive eye care and eye health awareness.

The Kirby Puckett Eye Mobile is an extension of the Phillips Eye Institute's Kirby Puckett Education Center, which was established by Kirby Puckett's family in 2008 to provide the community with resources to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness through education and early detection.
