Classes and education

The Penny George Institute for Health and Healing's community and workplace wellness program offers your employees or community members in-person lunch and learns that are 30 to 60 minutes in length, on the following topics:

  • Activity for Every Body to understand your own "exercise personality" and gain practical tips to get active.
  • De-Clutter Your Brain to learn some brain basics to better focus and manage distractions, keep cool in any situation, reduce "brain fog" and feel better all day.
  • Sleep to learn about the process of sleep and techniques to fall asleep faster.
  • When Pain Gets in the Way  to acquire some healthy "work arounds" to deal with the pain and barriers that chronic conditions can present.
  • Meditation Basics to find out about the different types of meditation, and try a guided meditation.
  • Nutrition to Boost Immunity to discover what foods and supplements will help you achieve both.
  • Fast Food Frenzy: Slow down long enough to learn how to make fast food choices without compromising health.
  • Happiness Boosters: Learn what works and doesn't for improved happiness.
  • Healthy Nutrition: We will touch on the basics of nutrition and how food can affect the mind and body. Learn how to eat with intention.
  • Introduction to Mindfulness: Learn the basics of this powerful, healing and energizing practice, and ways to build it into your life.
  • Life Balance: What is "life balance" and how can I achieve it? Learn how shifts in your attitude and perspective can lower your stress and create better life balance and fulfillment.
  • Motivation: Find your own motivators so you can make and sustain change more easily.
  • Nutrition and Numbers: What you eat can impact your numbers including weight, percent body fat, glucose, blood pressure and lipids. Learn current nutrition information to make practical food changes to your current lifestyle.
  • Overcoming Barriers to Healthy Eating: Identify what gets in the way of healthy eating and learn steps to achieve the nutrition you want.
  • The Sitting Disease: Understand what the "sitting disease" is, why it's important and how to prevent it.
  • Sorting Through the Bottles and the Hype: Take a look at information on vitamins, minerals, dietary supplements and herbals to help you make informed decisions on their use.
  • Strengths: Learn about "signature strengths" and how to use yours for greater happiness and success.
  • Tipping the Scales in Favor of Nutrition: Find out if what you are eating adds up to the best you can be, and use your new knowledge to tip the scales in your favor.
