Patient, family and visitor code of conduct

Allina Health is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for everyone.

Our patient, family and visitor guidelines are in place to protect everyone, including our patients, visitors, clinicians, nurses and care team members.

Allina Health does not tolerate violent, threatening, racist, abusive or inappropriate language or behavior.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Offensive comments or gestures about others’ race, accent, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or age
  • Verbal threats and assaults
  • Physical threats and assaults
  • Sexual or vulgar words and actions
  • Disrupting another patient's care or experience
  • Photographing or recording anyone without permission.

We are committed to protecting our patients, visitors, clinicians, nurses and care team members. Any violations of these guidelines could result in removal from our facilities.

If you witness or experience any of these behaviors, please report it to your care team.

Allina Health hospitals follow the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) guidelines and always provide care to patients in need of emergency care or assessment.
