Patient story

Terry Trippler had a heart problem so he went to Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern to see Dr. Katsiyiannis for an Ablation procedure.

Click on the video below to hear his success story.

[MUSIC PLAYING] I couldn't do anything that I wanted to do. Every little thing I did, I would feel out of breath. I would feel my heart racing.

Well, he was extremely tired all the time, and he was irritable.

I've got two little grandsons. Grandpa, are you OK? Grandpa, are you OK? And that's the way it was, and I felt like an invalid.

He was constantly complaining that he could not catch his breath.

And I lay down at night and those agents would start in, and I couldn't sleep. And I-- it was just, life was hell. About a year and a half ago, I was advised to see Dr. Katsiyiannis at the Heart Institute, and he finally said we're going to have to do an ablation.

Once it was over, once the ablation was done, what it's really meant to me, as far as what I do with energy level now, is I can do just about anything. Biking is-- I think it's the most fun thing you can do, because you can go anywhere. You absolutely can go anywhere, and now, I can.

He has more energy, and he's not so crabby.

I weighed 275 pounds. I had the ablation in June. Today, I weigh 235.

Every single nurse, plus the doctors and all of their technicians, they make you feel so secure. We couldn't have found a better hospital.

The Heart Institute and Abbott Northwestern have never let me down. You know, they treat you like a human being. It's my safe place.

I'm just very grateful that he's still here with me after 41 years.

To be totally blunt and honest, it was just hell, and it turned around in an hour and a half. It's been a brand new life. It's just been unbelievable.
