National Commission on Sleep Disorders research estimates that about 70 million Americans suffer from a sleep problem; among them, nearly 60 percent have a chronic disorder. Despite this widespread prevalence, most cases remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Symptoms

Sleep disorders may cause a variety of symptoms. If you or a loved one has one or more of the following, make an appointment to discuss this with your healthcare provider.

  • awake at night gasping for air or choking
  • diabetes
  • difficult concentrating and completing tasks at work

District One Hospital Sleep Center offers sleeps studies to help with a wide variety of sleep disorders including sleep apnea, excessive snoring, insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, sleepwalking, night terrors and narcolepsy.  Sleep studies at District One Hospital are done in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine standards.
