As of July 2020, we began a phased approach to resuming in-person volunteering at several locations/programs in a limited capacity with existing volunteers. Any opportunities for new volunteers will be shared under the volunteer spotlight below.

Volunteering at District One Hospital opens a whole new world of community involvement and opportunity. Volunteering is for anyone who would like to help others in a meaningful way.
How to become a volunteer
- Submit an online application.
- You will receive a link on how to complete the required steps to volunteer after you submit an online application:
- Complete independent online orientation session within two weeks of submitting online application.
- Complete health clearance form and screening.
- Background study submitted by volunteer services on all applicants over 18 years of age.
- Once you completed steps 1 and 2, a staff member from the volunteer office will contact you with information on how to schedule your onsite onboarding shift.

- Virginia Piper Cancer Institute: Serve as a goodwill ambassador in the cancer center.
- Information Desk:Provide patients and visitors with a greeting and assistance in finding their destination.
- Angel's Attic gift shop: Greet and assist customers in making purchases.
- Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute: Providing a clean, sanitary and well-stocked environment.
- Diagnostic Imaging Reception Desk: Greet and assist patients.
- Allina Health Faribault Clinic, Information Desk: Provide patients and visitors with a greeting and assistance in finding their destination in a warm, friendly and welcoming manner.
Volunteer benefits
As a volunteer, you receive a 10 percent discount in the Angel's Attic gift shop. Plus, all volunteers receive a complimentary flu shot; invitations to various hospital events, including the annual volunteer appreciation event for volunteering 24 hours-a-year; and a sense of contribution and accomplishment.
