Taking your prescriptions as directed by your provider is an important part of staying healthy.

Pharmacy tips

  • Take advantage of services that allow you to get your prescriptions without entering the pharmacy, including mail, drive-through or curbside pick-up. Your pharmacy may also be able to provide some non-prescription medicines via mail, drive-through or curbside pick-up.
  • If you use an Allina Health pharmacy, you can request that it mail your prescriptions to you at no charge using the Allina Health account or by calling your pharmacy.

Allina Health retail pharmacies remain open and are filling prescriptions. Allina Health Heart Hospital Pharmacy is open 24/7. Other local pharmacies also are open. Check with your pharmacy to confirm hours.

Prescription tips

Here are suggestions to help you get your prescriptions safely and on time during the coronavirus pandemic.

  • You can continue to have your prescriptions refilled or renewed as you have in the past. In some cases, you may be able to do this without an office visit or lab test. Your clinic will let you know if you need to be seen by your provider.
  • Check with your insurance provider about getting early refills or an extended supply of your prescription.
  • Get your prescriptions filled 5-7 days before you run out, especially if you are out of refills. Contact the pharmacy and they will contact your provider.
  • If you are out of refills, your pharmacy may be able to fill a short supply, but it is best to give the pharmacy enough time to get a new prescription from your provider.
  • To reduce trips to your pharmacy, try to have all your prescriptions filled at one time and confirm that your prescriptions are ready before you arrive. You can use the pharmacy’s online portal to track your prescriptions, or request an automated confirmation, including telephone or text notification.
