Change Healthcare Cyberattack

Potential Data Breach

In February 2024, Change Healthcare, a division of UnitedHealth Group and an Allina Health partner, experienced a cyberattack. Change Healthcare processes insurance claims, pharmacy transactions and other electronic activity between payers and providers across the entire health care industry, including Allina Health.

UnitedHealth Group announced on April 22 that the cyberattack may have compromised the personal information of patients across the U.S. and is offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection to anyone concerned they have been impacted.

Allina Health was not directly attacked and has not been notified that the personal information of our patients was impacted. Given the ongoing nature and complexity of the data review, it is likely to take several months before enough information will be available to identify and notify impacted customers and individuals. Impacted customers will be notified by UnitedHealth Group.

Free credit monitoring and identity theft protection is available to anyone concerned they have been impacted by the cyberattack and potential data breach. To contact UnitedHealth Group, call 1-866-262-5342 or visit their data breach website.

What you need to know about insurance billing

A recent nationwide cyberattack targeted Change Healthcare, a company that supports insurance verification. We do not have a timeline for when services will be fully restored.

Important points about billing:

  • It may take longer than usual to receive your bill.
  • Your account balance in your Allina Health account may not be current until the situation is resolved.
  • We are working to restore our usual insurance billing abilities.
  • If you have additional questions, call 612-262-4235.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.
