Allina Health started a new environmental sustainability program in 2020. This internship would assist with developing the sustainability program, reporting on sustainability metrics, and communicating about the initiatives.
The intern would work directly with the new Sustainability Specialist. The position is part of the Facilities and Real Estate Administration department. The focus is system-wide and works with 12 hospitals and 100+ clinics. An additional focus is Abbott Northwestern Hospital because of the size, complexity and upcoming construction projects.

The Allina Health Cancer Institute Quality and Accreditation team has some major initiatives, including a new accreditation for Radiation Oncology, new certification called Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI), and other quality initiatives. There are many details to sort through as we do gap analyses related to the standards and measurements. I would anticipate the intern supporting this work.
The Allina Health Cancer Institute’s Quality and Accreditation team consists of a Director, an Accreditation Manager, and 2 safety & quality advisors. The Accreditation Manager has an Accreditation Specialist & several cancer registry staff reporting to her. We are a small group, work well together, and meet as a team regularly. We work closely with a larger group of leaders, physicians, and healthcare team members within the cancer institute to advance our quality initiatives.
Location: We will plan that this work will be done remotely, with frequent contact via Teams and Emails; however, may have some opportunity to do in-person.

As member of the Public Affairs team, the Regulatory Affairs Intern will play a role in supporting the public policy lifecycle. This internship will include tracking and analyzing federal regulatory public policy issues, preparing materials for internal stakeholder meetings, database management, note-taking skills, communication of regulatory updates across the health system, and other tasks/duties as needed and assigned.
By the end of the internship, the intern will have: gained an understanding of the regulatory affairs function within a large health system; experienced and performed regulatory policy analysis using enterprise risk-management principles; developed a greater depth of knowledge of the public policy lifecycle; and will have the opportunity for exposure/shadowing of other department(s).
The regulatory affairs intern will join a small team of 2 (Manager and Analyst) and will be part of a department of 20 employees, including communications, public relations and government relations. This comprises “Public Affairs” at Allina Health. The intern will primarily interact with the Regulatory Affairs Manager and Regulatory Affairs Analyst. Strong communication, clear expectations, and asking questions are a few characteristics of our team that have helped us be successful.

We are a relatively new (created in 2020) Revenue Cycle department that interacts with many operational departments throughout Allina. We monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and connect with other Revenue Cycle areas and Allina-wide operational departments to insure that Allina’s revenue stream is as healthy and strong as possible.
We are a team of 9. Very high engagement (EE Engagement score of 98), and a team that has a lot of fun.
