Mammo on the Move, the Allina Health Cancer Institute mobile mammography truck, brings life-saving 2-D and 3-D breast cancer screening to you with convenient, expert care.
We're hitting the gas to expand our reach, because we know that early screening puts the brakes on cancer, possibly stopping it in its tracks when it is most treatable. It's the most common cancer we treat at Allina Health Cancer Institute, and making sure you get your regular screenings is paramount to your best health.
When and how often you have a screening mammogram depends on several factors, including:
Historically, screening mammograms were offered only to women, generally over the age of 40. As research evolves, we're learning other populations, such as men, transgender and gender diverse patients who have certain risk factors would also benefit from screening mammography.
Talk to your health care provider about when and how often, you should be screened.
We're making it easier than ever to get the care you need. Mammo on the Move puts the same top-notch mammography we offer in our breast centers, clinics and hospitals on wheels, offering convenient access to quick, expert screenings, close to home. Your current clinic doesn't have mammography services? Now it does.
Everything we've built at the Allina Health Cancer Institute — Piper Breast Center is built right into Mammo on the Move. Our truck is staffed by renowned Piper Breast Center technologists, who are certified in mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The mammograms are read at one of the Piper Breast Center locations by our compassionate, trained and skilled radiologists. It's all the evidence-based care you trust, conveniently delivered.
We provide fast, effective 2-D and 3-D screenings in less than 20 minutes, from check-in to walk-out. And we're cutting your commute by bringing the clinic to you, making it easier than ever to check the box when it comes to your yearly screening.
Health care is for everyone, no matter who you are or where you live. Closing geographic, racial and gender gaps is crucial to making sure everyone gets the breast health care they need and deserve.
It's easy to put off a regular screening—so we're making it even easier to check it off your to-do list by delivering services nearly at your doorstep. The truck will be visiting communities that don't currently have simple access to mammography screening services in clinics or hospitals, removing the barriers of time, transportation and distance.
We also partner with the Minnesota Department of Health Sage program and the Well Women Wisconsin program to provide free or low-cost screenings to those who qualify.
Out-of-pocket costs vary. Contact your insurance company to discuss your policy.
Medicare covers 2-D and 3-D screening mammography at 100 percent.
If you don't have insurance, or have limited or high-deductible insurance, and live in Minnesota, you may qualify for financial help through the Minnesota Department of Health's Sage program. Call 888-643-2584 to see if you qualify. You must be enrolled in Sage prior to scheduling a mammogram for coverage. If you live in Wisconsin, check with Wisconsin Well Woman to see if you qualify.
