Types of Gifts

Memorials and Tributes

Donating to the Cambridge Medical Center Foundation is a meaningful way to honor or remember loved ones. Your gift reflects your desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of others, just as your honoree has done for you. When you choose to honor that special person with an individual gift or purchase a paver in our Memorial Garden, be assured that your contribution will make a difference.

If you have a specific idea for honoring a loved one, please reach out to us to learn more. Memorial and tribute gifts can be made via any of the above methods.

Memorial Garden Remembrance Stones

The Memorial Garden, located outside the hospital entrance of Cambridge Medical Center, is an inviting and peaceful place to rest and enjoy the beauty of blooming flowers amidst a gentle fountain.

Brick pavers surrounding the fountain and garden are available for engraving as a way to honor or remember loved ones. To learn more or to purchase a stone, please view our brochure.

Matching Gift Program

Doubling your impact may be easier than you think! Check with the human resources department at your workplace to see if your employer matches contributions.

Planned Gifts

Do you want your gift to make a difference, but have concerns about your own future financial needs and those of your family? Planned giving provides a way to support the hospital right now without sacrificing your ability to meet current and future financial obligations.

Planned giving is attractive to donors for many reasons. With a planned gift, donors can often give more significant contributions than they thought possible, and can…

  • receive a stream of income for life
  • regularly increase the yield they receive from their investments
  • benefit from a charitable income tax deduction
  • reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes or estate taxes

Planned gifts fall into three general categories:

  • Outright gifts – Make an immediate difference! You can meet some of our most pressing needs by donating cash. Plus:
    • It's easy to set up
    • You potentially receive the maximum tax deduction
    • You will see the immediate effects of your generosity

  • Creating a legacy with your will – A donation in your will or living trust called a bequest, allows you to support our work without parting with assets today. Some advantages include:
    • Simple to set up
    • Can be changed at any time
    • Could provide estate tax relief
  • Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) – Enjoy a lifetime of payments while supporting us. When you set up a CGA with us, we make fixed annual payments to you or someone you name for life. Payments are based on your age on the date of the gift. After your lifetime, the remaining balance of your donation supports our mission. Some advantages to a CGA include:
    • A partial income tax charitable deduction now for your gift, if you itemize
    • Income-tax-free portions of each payment throughout your estimated life expectancy
    • Capital gains tax savings on the appreciated property you donate
  • Charitable gift annuity example: Mary, 76, established a $100,000 charitable gift annuity. Based on her age, she was able to receive an annuity rate of 5.8%. This means that we will pay her $5,800 each year for the remainder of her life, of which $491 (for 11.8 years) is tax-free to her throughout her life expectancy. She'll also receive a charitable deduction of about $40,000 if she itemizes on her income taxes (assumes annual payments and a 1.8% charitable midterm federal rate – deductions vary based on income earned). After her lifetime, the remaining amount is used to support our mission.
