Increased Law Enforcement Presence

Our mission is to provide exceptional care as we prevent illness, restore health and provide comfort to all who entrust us with their care.

Allina Health has long-standing policies that guide how we respond when law enforcement is present in our facilities, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). We follow all applicable laws when caring for patients who arrive at our facilities in the custody of law enforcement.

Our policies are designed to protect care team member and patient privacy, prioritize safety, maintain access to care and comply with all relevant laws:

  • We provide expert, high-quality care to all, regardless of immigration status.
  • We protect care team member and patient privacy and comply with state and federal laws to maintain confidentiality.
  • If law enforcement arrives at our facilities, our care team members will follow our standard policies and procedures.
  • Law enforcement may be present in our facilities for many routine reasons, such as investigations, safety matters, or other official business. Their presence does not necessarily relate to patient care activities.
  • Law enforcement agencies are not permitted in private care areas without proper authorization.
  • We uphold our values of compassion, excellence, integrity and teamwork, along with our Code of Conduct to ensure a safe, caring environment for patients, visitors and care team members.
