[Pioneer Press, October 14, 2010]   Medtronic will pay $268 million to settle thousands of lawsuits filed over a flawed heart device component recalled by the manufacturer three years ago. Dr. Robert Hauser and colleagues at the Minneapolis Heart Institute were the first to publicly raised concerns about the lead wires in a medical journal article published before the recall.

[Star Tribune & Pioneer Press, September 02, 2009]   A widely anticipated heart disease study released Tuesday could boost the use of an advanced type of heart defibrillator made by companies with strong roots in Minnesota. "This will likely broaden the number of patients who will be treated with [CRT-D] devices," said Dr. William Katsiyiannis, a cardiologist at Minneapolis Heart Institute.
