Courage Kenny Ski-A-Thon kicks off

[KSTP TV, February 05, 2017] The Courage Kenny Ski-A-Thon kicked off this weekend and will continue until April.

For more than 45 years, Courage Kenny Research Institute's ski and snowboard program has been helping people with disabilities ski right past their limits. Four hundred-plus volunteers and donations help make 1,200 ski lessons possible every year.

"So many of our athletes have disabilities where they use a wheelchair full-time," Megan Welty, a supervisor of the program, said regarding why the program was so important. "To be able to feel the wind in their hair and go down the slopes is so special."
