Janet Jackson pregnant at 50

[KARE11, October 12, 2016] Six months after announcing that she was putting her tour on hold while she planned a family, Janet Jackson is officially acknowledging her pregnancy with an exclusive in People magazine with her baby bump on full display.

The child will be the first for Jackson, 50, and her third husband, Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana, 41. The two have been married since 2012.

"Fifty is pretty advanced maternal age. We start talking about being old to be pregnant at 35," said Dr. Donald Wothe of Allina Health's Minnesota Perinatal Physicians. "For most women they start to lose their ability to become pregnant at around 32 to 33 and it's measurably different by 37. At age 42 or 43 it's probably 10 times more difficult to become pregnant than it was when you're in your 30s. By age 50, you have about a 1% chance of becoming pregnant as opposed to someone in their 30s."
