[March 4, January 01, 0001] District One Hospital, along with other Allina Health locations around Minnesota, is imposing visitor restrictions due to the increase of influenza cases across the state. The Minnesota Department of Health released its latest report on the number of cases of influenza at the end of February, showing an increase of 64 percent in hospitalizations over the previous week.

According to the report, the number of hospitalizations so far this flu season is 245, compared to 4,153 last year. While it indicates a mild year to this point, the recent spike resulted in MDH officials moving the geographical spread from “regional” to “widespread,” triggering Allina’s decision to impose the visitor restrictions at its Minnesota locations.
