World Health Organization says red meat causes colon cancer

[WCCO-AM, October 28, 2015] After thoroughly reviewing the accumulated scientific literature, 22 experts from 10 countries classified the consumption of red meat as probably carcinogenic to humans, mainly for colorectal cancer, but associations were also seen for pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer.

Processed meat was classified as carcinogenic to humans based on sufficient evidence in humans that the consumption of processed meat causes colorectal cancer.

Stuart Bloom MD, cancer specialist with Minnesota Oncology at Abbott Northwestern talked about the implications of the announcement by the World Health Organization with WCCO-AM.
