Mending a broken heart

[KMSP-TV, October 01, 2014] Two years ago, Collette Koskinen was just an ordinary mortal who sold cars for a living. That all changed when a virus drove her to the hospital and she was placed on life support.

Something needed to be done or else her kidneys and other organs would fail. Heart transplant surgery was an option, but it wasn't clear if she could survive long enough to find a donor organ.

So, doctors at Abbott Northwestern decided it would be best to give her ticker some time off by inserting an $85,000 pump. Watch the entire story here.
