Cub Scout pack, Allina present a safety day

[COON RAPIDS HERALD, July 21, 2011] A Coon Rapids Cub Scout pack partnered with Allina Medical Transportation to present a safety day for children at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park Saturday.

The idea for the safety day event came out of a monthly roundtable meeting of cub pack leaders in the Three Rivers Scout District, according to Matt Johnson, Pack 419 Cubmaster.

When it was announced that July was National Safety Month, Johnson, a paramedic with Allina Transportation, decided to talk with two other paramedics whose sons are members of the pack about putting on a safety event for the cub pack, Johnson said.

"The idea is to promote general safety,” Johnson said. “It is a good way for kids to learn about safety."
