Allina's Abbott Northwestern Hospital Credited with First Metro Use of Heart Freezing Technology

[Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, January 31, 2011]   The Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and the Mayo Clinic have started using a newly approved Medtronic procedure that freezes a portion of the heart to treat a heart rhythm disorder. The new surgical method, which had not been done before in Minnesota, freezes the inside of an upper cavity in the heart to create lesions that stop erratic electrical signals.
