Rare heart condition hits family of Minneapolis TV news anchor

[KARE-TV, November 09, 2010] Recently, KARE-TV's Mike Pomeranz' family learned some news that has since changed all of their lives.

His wife was diagnosed with a dangerous heart condition, called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia, or ARVD. And he says it was only through a near tragic twist of fate that she discovered she had it.

Cardiac Electrophysiologist Bill Katsiyiannis, MD, of the Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, explains ARVD and how difficult it is to diagnose.
