Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN to try new payment model

[Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, November 30, 2010] Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, the largest health insurer operating in the state, is trying a new approach to paying for health care.

The Eagan-based insurer said Tuesday it has signed “shared incentive” payment agreements with four large hospitals and clinics systems: Minneapolis-based Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services, St. Paul-based HealthEast Care System and Duluth-based Essentia Health.
