[Star Tribune, October 27, 2010]   Abbott Northwestern, which delivers more babies each year than any other hospital in Minnesota, and Children's Hospitals and Clinics are building a new Mother/Baby Hospital in Minneapolis, where high-risk babies won't have to be whisked away to another building. Dr. Steve Calvin, an Abbott Northwestern OB and expert on high-risk pregnancies, is quoted.

[PioneerPress, October 14, 2010]   Medtronic will pay $268 million to settle thousands of lawsuits filed over a flawed heart device component recalled by the manufacturer three years ago. Dr. Robert Hauser and colleagues at the Minneapolis Heart Institute were the first to publicly raised concerns about the lead wires in a medical journal article published before the recall.

[Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, October 15, 2010]   Allina Hospitals & Clinics and Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota have revived plans to build a jointly operated birth center in Minneapolis. The two organizations plan to spend about $50 million to construct the facility at the Minneapolis campus of Children’s, which also has a hospital in St. Paul.
