Prior Lake man goes to India for heart transplant

[Star Tribune & KARE11, September 19, 2010] The first American to have a heart transplant in India lives right here in the Twin Cities. While Ron Lemmer of Prior Lake doesn't regret having the surgery overseas, health officials worry about safety.

Dr. Nader Moazami, Surgical Director of Heart Transplant at the Minneapolis Heart Institute, where Lemmer has gotten his pre-surgery and post-surgery care said, "He made the wrong decision. I'm thankful he's doing well. I'm thankful he's doing very well. But the message he's propagating is wrong, is dangerous and it will endanger the lives of people."
