‘Heart of New Ulm’ disease reduction project on a roll

[New Ulm Journal, November 14, 2009] As evidenced by the Heart of New Ulm Project Summit report provided to the public last weekend, the project definitely is off to a fast start, allowing those involved in the project to get more specific in 2010, the second year of a 10-year initiative to greatly reduce the risk of heart attacks within the community and the 56073 zip code. "What we know: Heart disease is the second leading cause of death in Minnesota (a close second only to cancer); each year, in the 56073 zip code, between 24 and 46 people ages 40 to 79 will have a heart attack. Between three and nine of these people will die from their heart attack," the Heart of New Ulm fact sheet states.
