Former Allina Nurse Publishes Book on Domestic Violence

[Allina Newsroom, September 04, 2009] Anoka County advocates for domestic abuse victims invite the public to a launch of the book “Beyond the Mirror.” Author Marlene Jezierski is a retired ER nurse of 30 years who worked at Allina’s Unity Hospital. "Beyond the Mirror" is a collection of poems that tell stories that describe how words cause emotional and physical damage and why victims stay in abusive relationships. It also includes comments from victims on how they were helped by health care workers who recognized or were suspicious of their situations. Jezierski will read selections and provide free copies of her book Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, 641 89th Ave. NE, Blaine. The event is free and will include refreshments, art and music.
