[Red Wing Republican Eagle, August 24, 2009] When his Grandpa Jim Smith was hospitalized with pancreatic cancer, Parker Moan wrapped one of his blankies in Superman paper and gave it to his grandpa. It didn't matter that Grandpa Jim was too ill to say anything. Parker knew—and the nurses confirmed—that his grandpa felt better having something soft to snuggle. This led to the establishment of Parker's Blankets. The nonprofit business gives blankies to kids, so that they can give them to grownups who are in the hospital. On Monday, 6-year-old Parker made his second delivery of blankets. His first delivery was, naturally, to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, where his grandpa died.
