Fargo Flood Evacuees Land at Abbott Northwestern Hospital

[KARE11, January 01, 0001] A hospital room in south Minneapolis seems a long way from where Kenneth Bartell was staying less than 24 hours ago. "It's very good here. I've slept some," says Kenneth. "I'm feeling better." Bartell is one of about 200 Fargo MeritCare hospital patients evacuated from their hospital rooms in the middle of the night. The rising Red River was just too close to take any chances.Kenneth was put on a charter bus to Minneapolis. By early morning, 45 patients had been checked in at Abbott Northwestern. A hospital ward that is usually on standby was hopping Friday with staff and evacuated patients.
