Minneapolis (July 01, 2021) — Three Allina Health care givers recently received the DAISY Award for their work with the Twin Cities chapter of Black Nurses Rock, Inc., which aims at increasing health equity for people of color during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Allina Health recipients of the 2021 DAISY Award include:

  • Lily Thomas, RN -- United Hospital
  • Trinia Shannon, RN – United Hospital
  • Patience Mbonifor, RN, DNP – United Hospital

“We are so proud of Lily Thomas, Trinia Shannon, and Dr. Patience Mbonifor for their dedication to patient care and continued efforts to eliminate the disparities in health care for those that have faced historic mistreatment”, said Lisa Archer, Director Patient Care-RN, Birth Center Administration at Allina Health. “These three award recipients are models of Allina Health’s mission to provide the highest quality of Whole Person Care”.

The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at age 33.
